Interception in mobile networks can typically be arranged at the MSCs (Mobile Switching Centers) for voice and at the SGSNs (Serving GPRS Support Nodes) for data intercepts. CDMA configurations are comparable although terms, data formats, and protocols are partially different.
In case the content of the communication can be intercepted in a standardized data format, the delivery can take place directly between the mobile switch and the monitoring center of the law enforcement agency. In many cases however the intercept related information (IRI) and the content of communication (CC) is send to a LIMS Mediation Device for formatting and for secured delivery to the appropriate authorities.
